Ameristar Casinos to Open New St. Charles, Missouri Facility

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – (Press Release) -- Ameristar Casinos, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASCA) today announced that its new casino and entertainment facility in St. Charles, Mo. will open on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002. The new facility features a 130,000 square foot casino with 3,300 slot and video poker machines and 95 table games, including a live poker room, seven dining and entertainment venues, a retail gift shop and a video game arcade.

The new $360 million complex will replace the existing operations at the Company's St. Charles property, increasing the number of gaming positions by approximately 80 percent and significantly expanding the breadth of non-gaming amenities available to guests. The new Ameristar St. Charles restaurants will offer a total of 1,580 seats, which represents a 345 percent increase from the current 355 seats available to accommodate guests. Once the new facility is open, Ameristar will offer the largest selection of slot machines and table games in the metropolitan St. Louis market.
