Ameristar Casinos Names New Vice President24 July 2002LAS VEGAS – (Press Release) -- Ameristar Casinos, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASCA) has promoted Tom Malone to the position of vice president/controller. In this capacity, he will report directly to Chief Financial Officer Thomas Steinbauer. Malone will be responsible for accounting and financial reporting functions within the Corporate Finance Department and, along with property general managers, will coordinate and direct finance operations at the Company's six properties in Nevada, Iowa, Missouri and Mississippi. "I am confident in Tom's capabilities and pleased with his contributions to our organization," says Ameristar's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Craig Neilsen. "This advancement will bring great symmetry to our finance function and will enable us to continue to build on the efficiencies we have already established." Malone came to Ameristar in June 2001, serving as director of internal audit. An accomplished executive, he possesses more than 15 years of domestic and international experience in audit and assurance-related services within the hospitality, construction and real estate industries. Prior to joining the company, Malone was a partner with KPMG, a big four accounting and consulting firm with extensive international clientele. In this role, he led all aspects of the marketing, selling and delivery of services to global clients. Other areas of Malone's expertise include financial accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, business process improvement, cost management, procurement management and legal compliance.
