American Wagering Gets the Go Ahead in New Jersey3 March 2000American Wagering, Inc. (Nasdaq: BETM) is taking its new keno system to Atlantic City. The company, which is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, announced today that the New Jersey Casino Control Commission has granted the company's AWI Keno Inc. subsidiary a Casino Service Industry License. The approval allows AWI to begin the marketing, sale and service of its new keno system known as "The Game" to casinos in Atlantic City. This is the first time American Wagering will expand its U.S. business beyond the Nevada border. Company chief executive Victor Salerno said, "One of the reasons for the development of 'The Game' was that it allowed us to market one of our systems outside of the State of Nevada. Keno is a game which is legal in most gaming jurisdictions, so it represents a growth opportunity for the company outside of our home state". American Wagering owns and operates Leroy's Horse and Sports Place, the licensed bookmaker with the largest number of sports book locations (49) in the state of Nevada; CBS, the dominant supplier of sports equipment and software in Nevada and creator and operator of Mega$ports; and AWI Keno, Inc. the systems operator for linked casino games. The company also owns and operates an Australian subsidiary that operates Mega$ports on the Internet. |
