American Society for Industrial Security Announces Partnership with Global Gaming Expo

G2E, the first annual gaming event ``by the industry for the industry,' takes place on October 1 - 3, 2001, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, its host venue through 2020.

ASIS is also presenting full-day sessions for the G2E Training & Development Institute, immediately following G2E on October 4, at the convention center. Among the topics are ``How to Train Casino Surveillance Personnel Through an Innovative Training Session,' ``Eject, Evict, Trespass & 86: Dealing with the Unwanted,' ``South African Security Concerns: How Threat Levels Have Increased,' and ``Technical Applications & Equipment.'

In addition to its intensive focus on security and surveillance, the G2E Training & Development Institute offers in-depth discussions of casino and slot operations, marketing, human resources and responsible gaming.

``ASIS briefings will demystify security and surveillance for non- practitioners and help them integrate these key areas into decisions about privacy, technology, staffing, customer relations, player tracking systems and data base management,' said Douglas L. Florence, Sr., CPP, business development, ADT Tyco Gaming & Hospitality, and program chair of the ASIS Gaming and Wagering Protection Council.

G2E conference and institute speakers represent a cross-section of senior security and risk management professionals from around the world. They include Derk J. Boss, CPP, director of surveillance, The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas; Steven Van Zwieten, CPP, director of security & surveillance, Panthers World of Entertainment, Australia; Johan D. Du Plooy, CPP, CEO, Investment Surveys Ltd., South Africa; and Conrad Montanarini, vice president, business development, Media Coach e-learning, Canada.

``ASIS programs are designed to provide a thought-provoking context within which gaming executives can examine such issues as protecting properties, managing liability, mitigating losses, and providing a safe environment for guests and employees,' noted Florence.

With 32,000 members globally, ASIS advances security practices through educational programs and materials that address broad security concerns, as well as issues relevant to specific industries such as banking, hospitality, retail and gaming. Members include security directors, corporate executives, architects, attorneys and federal, state and local law enforcement officials.

``The alliance between G2E and ASIS means that gaming executives are learning from the experts in the field,' said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA), G2E's organizer. ``Exhibitors and attendees alike can build their knowledge base about a critical concern -- protecting our employees, guests and property.'

The AGA represents the commercial casino-entertainment industry by addressing federal legislative and regulatory issues. It also serves as a clearinghouse for information, develops educational and advocacy programs, and provides leadership on industry-related issues of public concern.

Other G2E partners are the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM), representing leading gaming device and equipment makers, the Asociacion Latinoamericana de Juegos de Azar (ALAJA), which represents Latin American operators and suppliers, and the European Gaming Organization (EGO), Europe's only official gaming association.

The more than 180 companies exhibiting at G2E are a ``who's who' of gaming industry manufacturers and suppliers from around the world.
