American Bingo Announces Charity Funding for 1999

3 April 2000

AUSTIN, Texas, April 3 (Press Release) - American Bingo & Gaming Corporation (Nasdaq: BNGO) announces the total amount of charity funding provided by its bingo halls in 1999. American Bingo operates twenty (20) charitable bingo halls in Texas, Alabama and South Carolina. These bingo halls are home to approximately 60 charities that have received approximately $3,200,000 in funding from their efforts during 1999.

The charities supported are noble, hardworking, worthy and diverse. They include the following: the arts (Abilene Opera Association, Alabama Dance Theatre); education (Father Joe Znotas Scholarship Fund); Religion (Apostolic Church of the Faith, Knights of Columbus); the military (Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, United Veterans Association); public service (numerous Volunteer Fire Departments, Fraternal Order of Police); substance abuse (Substance Abuse Services Today, Alcoholic Recovery Center); women's issues (ASK House for Women, Inc., Marion Moss Enterprises); disease treatment and prevention (Arthritis Foundation, Managed Care Center); economic development (Guadalupe Economic Services, South Plains Economic Development).

Because of American Bingo's stewardship of these charities bingo operations, lives are being favorably impacted and good works are being performed.

Jeffrey L Minch, President of American Bingo, had the following comments: "Sometimes in our pursuit of business success and delivering value to our shareholders, we forget that American Bingo is a partner with and supports some of the most important and noble enterprises that enrich all of our lives. Our charity partners are doing great work and we salute their efforts.

"We are very proud that our collective efforts have resulted in charitable funding of $3,200,000 in 1999. We salute our charity partners and promise to try even harder in 2000. We are proud that American Bingo is a supporter of the arts, education, religion, veterans, public service, substance abuse prevention, women's issues, disease prevention and treatment, and economic development.

"As the largest shareholder in American Bingo, I am personally very proud to lead a company that shoulders a bit of society's burden with a sincere sense of social responsibility and stewardship."

American Bingo is engaged in the development and operation of charitable bingo halls. Qualified charities are able to fund their noble and worthy causes by offering consumers entertainment in the form of bingo games - subject to strict regulatory oversight - for which the charities pay rent to American Bingo for the use of the facility subject to long standing leases.

American Bingo is the only public company attempting to strategically consolidate this $12,000,000,000 arcane, niche industry and is currently the largest public company operating charitable bingo halls in the United States.

American Bingo operates twenty (20) bingo halls in Texas, Alabama and South Carolina and is currently developing two new bingo halls in Alabama that will commence operations in 2000.
