American Airlines announces nonstop service from Tokyo to Las Vegas6 August 2018(PRESS RELEASE) -- For the first time, American Airlines — together with its Pacific Joint Business partner Japan Airlines (JAL) — announces a special nonstop flight between Narita International Airport in Tokyo (NRT) and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas (LAS) to support additional demand for CES 2019. American will operate the flight 4-14 January 2019. “Thousands of travelers from Japan and other parts of Asia make their way to Las Vegas every year for CES,” said Shane Hodges, managing director of Asia Pacific Sales for American. “The network and onboard experience offered by American and Japan Airlines as part of their Pacific Joint Business is world-class, and we are thrilled to make getting to the world’s largest technology event faster and easier than ever before.” This special service will be flown on American’s Boeing 787-8 and will be marketed by Japan Airlines. For the 10-day period, the nonstop flight between NRT and Chicago O’Hare International (ORD) will operate through LAS. In addition to improved aerodynamics, advanced engine technology and better fuel efficiency, the 787 features a state-of-the-art onboard travel experience. The two-class aircraft features Flagshipship Business which includes 28 fully lie-flat seats with direct-aisle access, Cole Haan amenity kits, Casper bedding and chef designed meals. Additionally there are 55 Main Cabin Extra seats and 143 Main Cabin seats. It is equipped with satellite Wi-Fi to allow customers to stay connected, and all seats offer HD touchscreen monitors with the latest movies and TV shows, and even live TV, to enjoy while inflight. “Travelers in Asia are discerning, wanting the best schedule on the best aircraft,” said Noboru Hirai, vice president of International Passenger Sales & Planning for JAL. “This special service allows us to do that, while closely working with American to tailor it to the needs of Japanese customers.” Schedule (all times are local): Flight Number/Depart/Arrive/First Departure/Last Departure/Departure Time/Arrival Time AA186/NRT/LAS/4 January 2019/14 January 2019/6:25 p.m./11:40 a.m. AA187/LAS/NRT/4 January 2019/14 January 2019/11 a.m./4 p.m. “For many of our visitors each year, Las Vegas means business, and there is no better example than CES,” said Rosemary A. Vassiliadis, director of McCarran International Airport. “With those customers in mind, the airport works closely with airlines and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to expand and improve travelers’ options during peak demand times. This service from American will make it even easier for technology enthusiasts from Japan to experience CES. This 10-day air service is expected to have an estimated economic impact of $2.8 million in addition to the more than $270 million annually that CES and its 184,000 attendees bring to the local economy.” There were a total of 6,434 attendees from Japan at CES 2018 including more than 4,300 industry attendees, nearly 1,900 exhibitor personnel and 229 media. |
