Alliance Gaming to Develop Progressive Slot Game for Park Place8 April 2003LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Alliance Gaming Corp. (NYSE: AGI) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Park Place Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: PPE) to develop "Park Place Millions," a new wide-area progressive slot machine game that will allow Park Place to exclusively offer its players a life-changing jackpot at all of its casinos in Nevada, New Jersey and Mississippi. It is anticipated that "Park Place Millions" slot machines will be available by December 2003. We have been a partner with Park Place Entertainment for years on both games and slot systems and this is a natural extension of that relationship," said Robert Miodunski, President and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Gaming. "The 'Park Place Millions' concept is exceptionally strong and we are pleased to be able to work with Park Place to bring a new level of excitement to its players." "By introducing 'Park Place Millions' in all three of our key operating jurisdictions, we believe we are instantly creating an exciting new slot brand that will rival anything in the marketplace today," said Park Place's Dave Lyons, one of the company's senior slot executives. "The ability to offer an exclusive multi-regional progressive game gives us a competitive advantage in our major markets, and it gives slot customers yet another benefit of playing at our properties." Under terms of the agreement with Alliance Gaming's Bally Gaming and Systems business unit, Park Place will launch this new link on Bally Gaming's proprietary Thrillions progressive network with the placement of a minimum of 100 specially themed purchased games utilizing the popular Monte Carlo-style game platform. The agreement is an extension of the corporate agreement already in place among the parties that includes game sales and recurring fees for Park Place's "Payday" games that were originally installed on the Thrillions link in 1998. While game specifications may vary by jurisdiction, plans for Park Place Millions call for 25-cent, 50-cent and $1 games to all contribute to and compete for a progressive jackpot that starts at $1 million and increases in relationship to player wagering. A total of 17 Park Place casino properties are scheduled to feature "Park Place Millions," with separate links planned for Nevada, New Jersey and Mississippi. Scheduled to be operational by the end of the calendar year, Park Place Millions will be ticketing-enabled and feature a million-dollar top award paid instantly, not as part of an annuity. Alliance Gaming is a diversified gaming company with headquarters in Las Vegas. The Company is engaged in the design, manufacture, operation and distribution of advanced gaming devices and systems worldwide, and is the nation's largest gaming machine route operator and operates two casinos. |
