Alliance Gaming Begin SDS Ticketing Field Trials

22 May 2002

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – (Press Release) -- Alliance Gaming Corp. (Nasdaq: ALLY ) announced today that its Bally Gaming and Systems business unit has received regulatory approvals to conduct field trials for its SDS Ticketing product in both Nevada and Michigan.

SDS Ticketing -- a single-wire solution capable of supporting gaming machines from virtually all manufacturers -- gives casino operators a truly integrated on-line slot accounting and security system for ticket-in / ticket- out technology across the entire mix of slots on the casino floor, helping to eliminate any potential player confusion as to which games do or do not accept a printed ticket. The field trials will allow for the redemption of tickets on a single-database all-Bally system that works in conjunction with the SDS slot accounting system.

The field trial locations will join nine other properties successfully running a version of SDS Ticketing at locations in California, Connecticut, Minnesota, Arizona and New Mexico.

The field trial in Nevada will begin in the coming weeks at Station Casinos, Inc.-operated Barley's Casino & Brewing Co. in the Las Vegas area, while the Michigan field trial will take place at Greektown Casino in Detroit beginning early this summer. The field trial will make Greektown the first casino in Michigan to offer a cashless ticket-in / ticket-out gaming option to its players.

"Being the only casino to be able to offer this product to our customers puts us ahead of the game in the Detroit market and throughout Michigan," said Greektown Casino Chief Operating Officer Sal Semola. "We have been very successful with our current Bally Systems products and we have been anxiously awaiting the time when ticketing would be approved for a field trial."

"Our SDS slot accounting and Casino Marketplace products are already proven products at Greektown and we believe that SDS Ticketing will give Greektown a tremendous marketing and customer service advantage over its competitors," said Bill Watson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Bally Systems. "Based on the performance at our existing SDS Ticketing locations, there's no question our cashless system helps in the areas of labor efficiency, player convenience, enhanced security and revenue performance."
