Alleged Robbery Victim Arrested

SOUTH AFRICA – As reported by the East African Standard: "The tables were turned on a Port Elizabeth man claiming he was robbed at GrandWest Casino of a massive diamond worth at least R10 million (US$1.5 million) when police arrested him for illegally trading in diamonds.

"Police were shocked when they first heard the report by a Port Elizabeth diamond dealer that he had been robbed at gunpoint of the valuable stone.

"…The huge yellow 116-carat stone, allegedly stolen from him at gunpoint in a GrandWest restaurant, was in fact uncut.

"Detectives have established the existence of the diamond but details of the robbery apparently did not gel…"
