Allegations Hit European Casino

LISBON, PORTUGAL—July 29, 2000 – As reported by The Associated Press:

"Police raided the homes of employees of Europe's largest casino, uncovering up to $461,000 in an alleged lending scheme

"…As many as 10 workers from Casino Estoril face charges of usury and extortion

"…Police also found jewels in the raid Wednesday.

"…Police also searched the homes of seven of the casino's regular gamblers...More than 40 gamblers also were banned from entering the Lisbon-area casino"
