Ali, Frazier Daughters To Fight

VERONA, New York –Feb. 8, 2001 – As reported by the Associated Press : "…Three decades after Joe Frazier won a brutal 15-round decision over Muhammad Ali in the first of their three famed bouts, their boxing daughters said they will rekindle the long rivalry.

"Jacqui Frazier-Lyde will fight Laila Ali in June, perhaps on Father's Day, promoters said Wednesday. They hope to hold the fight at Turning Stone Casino near Syracuse, where Laila Ali made her professional debut 16 months ago.

"…Muhammad Ali beat Frazier in their second and third fights. Frazier-Lyde said she hoped the fight would reunite their fathers again.

"…Frazier-Lyde, a 39-year-old Philadelphia attorney, has won all six of her pro fights by knockout. Laila Ali, 23, is unbeaten in eight fights with seven knockouts.

"Laila Ali calls herself the `Queen Bee,' a reference to her father's famous phrase, `Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.'
