Agua Caliente Band to donate $1.3 million

CALIFORNIA -- As reported by the Desert Sun: "The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians plans to donate $1.3 million to local charities Thursday, as part of the tribe's annual give-away program.

"The donations will go to 84 Coachella Valley charitable organizations and civic groups in recognition of their good work, according to the tribe.

"'We look forward to this day every year,' tribal chairman Richard Milanovich said in a statement. 'The tribe has a tradition of giving, and it's a great joy to be able to help those who help others.'

"The one-day giveaway commemorates the anniversary of the tribe's first casino, the Spa Resort Casino, which opened in Palm Springs in 1995..."
