Agency Grants Mississippi Casino a Break20 January 2003MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Clarion Ledger: ``The Mississippi Gaming Commission Friday gave Casino Ventures an extension of site approval for Splash Back Casino under development in Tunica. ```What this did was give them an extension to close on their financing,' said Larry Gregory, executive director of the Gaming Commission. `We waited until the end of the week and when we knew the loan was not going to close, decided to go ahead and give the company a 91-day extension.' ``…The site approval extension is unusual, Gregory said, because most casinos are well under way and opened during the two-year site approval period. Storm damage kept that from happening in the case of Splash Back, he said. ``The Splash Back barge was 80 percent complete when a storm in December caused significant damage and ruined the slot machines on board, said Dan McDaniel, the gaming attorney representing Casino Ventures…" |
