AG Asks High Court to Keep Arbitration Ban for Tribal Gaming Dispute8 October 2003SANTA FE, New Mexico -- As reported by the Associated Press: `` The attorney general is asking the state Supreme Court to keep alive a three-year-old order barring arbitration in a tribal gambling dispute. ``The attorney general's office says the state court's ban should remain in place while U.S. District Judge Bruce Black decides the issue in federal court. ``The state originally sought the stay to prevent arbitrators from the American Arbitration Association from ruling on the validity of a requirement that tribes share 16 percent of their slot machine revenue with the state. ``The state contends the arbitrators don't have the authority to rule on the legality of revenue sharing…" |
