African Safari-Themed Hotel and Casino to Open in February14 January 1998LAS VEGAS -- Ameristar Casinos Inc. has announced that it will open its first Las Vegas-area property, The Reserve Hotel Casino, in Henderson, Nevada on Feb. 10. Henry Coversano (designer of Mirage Hotel Casino in Las Vegas and The Lost City at Sun City Resort Hotel and Casino in Sun City, South Africa) developed The Reserve with an African-safari-themed design. Coversano used re-creations of lush vegetation native to the African continent in addition to murals and statues of exotic animals throughout. The new property will feature four signature restaurants, three bar/lounges, more than 37,000 square feet of gaming floor space and a 224-room hotel. The casino will include 26 gaming tables, featuring blackjack, poker, roulette and craps. There will also be 1,450 slot machines, a 300-seat bingo area, and a complete sports book. The property's four signature restaurants (Congo Jack's Cafe, Wildfire Steak & Seafood, Pasta Mombasa Italian Eatery and The Grand Safari Buffet) and three bar/lounges will blend seamlessly into The Reserve's rich environment. Each restaurant will feature exhibition cooking while incorporating cutting-edge menu selections. Additionally, an extensive bakery, one of the largest in the state of Nevada, will supply fresh baked goods to each restaurant and provide visitors with a large selection of exotic desserts. The property will open to the public at 10 p.m. following a private VIP reception. |
