Affinity Gaming announces new Lakeside Casino vice president and general manager4 May 2017(PRESS RELEASE) -- Affinity Gaming has appointed David Monroe as vice president and general manager of Lakeside Hotel & Casino, where he will oversee all aspects of the property, including day-to-day operations, staffing and guest satisfaction. Monroe brings more than 30 years of hotel and resort management within the gaming industry, most recently serving as vice president of hospitality at Harrah's and Harvey's Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino since 2004, helping the company achieve $100 million in nongaming revenues with the second best operating margins in Caesars Entertainment and a top five guest service ranking. Prior to that, he was director of hotel and food and beverage at Harrah's Reno Hotel & Casino, maintaining the second best cost per occupied room in the company, while increasing employee and guest satisfaction results. He started in hospitality as a valet parking attendant at Fitzgerald's Casino Reno, quickly rising through the ranks over the eight years he was with the company, including his final role as hotel director. He then opened the Grand Casinos Mille Lacs and Hinckley as vice president of hotel operations before being hired as vice president of hotel and resort at Grand Casino Tunica, where he reduced turnover by 50% and increased revenues by 27%. Monroe attended the University of Nevada, Reno and served as a sergeant in the United States Army for four years.
