Acres Gaming Awarded New Patent

23 January 1998

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a new patent to Acres Gaming protecting the illuminated card reader used in the combined IGT Gaming Systems/Acres Bonusing System.

The illuminated card makes it easier for players to find where to insert their card and communicates to them their eligibility for special bonus awards. "This patent protects yet another innovation we have brought to the market while furthering our mission to make gaming machines more entertaining and fun to play," said John Acres, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Acres Gaming and a listed inventor on the new patent. "We expect a number of additional patents to be issued which will help us solidify our position as the industry leader in bonusing promotions."

Acres Bonusing System makes it possible for Casinos to reward their best customers with Personal Progressive, Welcome Back, Match Play and other bonuses. These bonusing promotions are designed to help casinos be more profitable while bringing greater entertainment value to the player.
