A Snowball in Hell5 December 1997The provincial government of British Columbia's lottery advisory committee has been inundated by 49 applications -- twice as many as expected -- for new casino licenses. Lottery advisory committee chairman Peter Clark says "there is not a snowball's chance in hell that we will approve 49 applications." Each applicant had to submit a deposit of $10,000, and the identities of applicants will not be revealed until after Dec. 26, a deadline for municipalities to indicate if they want gambling. |
