A New Era Breaks From the Starting Gate -- Daily Racing Form Proclaims

30 May 2001

NEW YORK – (Press Release) -- Just in time for the Belmont Stakes on June 9, a host of fan-friendly, and free innovations and enhancements now greet thoroughbred racing fans as Daily Racing Form has unveiled a new and re-designed Web site www.drf.com

Daily Racing Form has made a multi-million dollar investment in its site over the last two years and with the Phase III launch DRF has blended its unmatched editorial coverage of thoroughbred racing with a myriad of added features to create the most comprehensive and full-service horse racing site on the Internet.

"We're delighted to present many enhancements to our Web site that we feel will ideally serve the serious horseplayer, fans of horse racing and the entire thoroughbred racing community," said Steven Crist, editor and publisher of Daily Racing Form. "It's been our goal to create not only a re-designed, but also a re-conceived, Web site"

Among the major free enhancements drf.com will introduce are:

*PERSONALIZED HOME PAGE: Visitors can create their customized DRF site by selecting their preferences by track, region, even entries, with all corresponding news and racing information automatically appearing on their personalized Home Page upon login.

* LIVE TOTEBOARD: DRF.com becomes a racing fan's personal simulcast center featuring live odds, up-to-date exotic pools and other real-time information from results and entries to weather to track conditions for every major track in North America. (The DRF Tote Board will also offer seamless access to a new area of drf.com through a partnership with Youbet.com where users can go to set up an online account, wager on and watch live race video.)

* WATCHES: DRF.com has expanded and improved its popular Stable Watch feature. In addition to tracking and notifying users when selected individual horses will race next, Watches now can track a variety of areas horseplayers may be interested in, including specific horses, trainers, types of races, and even lucrative Pick 6 carryover pools from coast-to-coast. DRF will e-mail pertinent updates, or members may check their "watch" page after logging in.

* RACE CHARTS: DRF.com visitors now have access to complete race charts.

There are two levels of membership available at drf.com -- Member Access (free signup required) and Subscriber Access (subscription based) -- which will offer something for everyone, from the casual racing fan to the hard-core horseplayer.

All visitors to drf.com have free access to DRF's award-winning and extensive daily editorial coverage, which is unparalleled in its coverage of the Triple Crown races. DRF's special Belmont Stakes section will include not only comprehensive news coverage and daily up-to-the-minute reports of the day's Belmont developments, but also free past performances for the 133rd Belmont Stakes.

Phase I of DRF Online came in 1999 with the launch of drf.com when interactivity was addressed for the first time: online subscribers could now choose their racetracks of interest, purchase and download the paper's famous past performance race lines in PDF format. Phase II came last year with the introductions of Formulator 1.0, and then the 2.0 version of its custom software program, which offered DRF's customers even more interactivity and sophisticated levels of flexibility: Formulator allowed DRF Online subscribers to customize and manipulate the past performance lines to suit individual preferences and needs.
