8th Guilty Plea In Gambling Case28 October 2003INDIANOLA, Iowa – As reported by the Associated Press: ``Another man accused of placing bets in a multimillion-dollar sports-betting ring in Warren County pleaded guilty. ``Martin Scarpino, of Des Moines, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony count of illegal wagering. Prosecutors said they will recommend probation. Sentencing is set for Dec. 15. ``Officials said Scarpino was a top player in the ring allegedly operated by Bob Derryberry of Norwalk. They were arrested along with eight others in April…" |
