24 Carat Sportsbook Posts World Series Odds21 September 2006ST. JOHN'S, Antigua -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- 24 Carat Sportsbook has posted updated odds on this year's possible World Series matchups with an all-New York series being seen as the most likely scenario. With the Mets clinching the NL East on Monday and the Yankees closing in on their magic number in the AL East, a Yankees/Mets World Series is being offered at 3:1. The next shortest odds are the Twins/Mets and Tigers/Mets both being offered at 5:1. "Due to the perceived relative weakness of the National League, the Mets are being seen as the odds on favorite to represent their league in the World Series", said Marketing Director Mike Franklin. "In contrast, with the American League you have 3 teams right now – the Yankees, Tigers and Twins - that are all playing very well and are solid choices to advance. Therefore, the odds on any Mets scenario will be a bit shorter." Should the Mets not advance, there is some nice value with teams such as the Cardinals, Dodgers and Padres. Odds on those teams advancing to the World Series start at 7:1 if they face the Yankees and move up to 11:1 if matched against the Twins or Tigers. "I like the value plays with scenarios not involving the Mets" adds Franklin. "Although I believe they still have the best team in the NL, it remains to be seen how their pitching holds up and how they handle this long period of time without really having to play competitively. Will complacency set in? Can they turn it back on in a couple of weeks?" In addition to offering World Series Matchup odds, 24 Carat also has odds on World Series, AL Pennant and NL Pennant champions.
