$88 Million Jackpot Causes California Lotto Fever9 February 2002CALIFORNIA – Feb. 9, 2002 –As reported by the Associated Press: "California's SuperLotto Plus take for tonight's drawing has grown to $88 million, making it the largest single state lottery in the country and the ninth largest in the state's lottery history. "The odds of picking all six numbers are about 27.3 million to one. "…The long odds didn't keep 38 employees of the Oakland Police Department from pooling $200 for a pile of Quick-Pick tickets. With thoughts of new homes, new cars and dream vacations dancing in their heads, they dispatched Officer Earl Johnson to buy tickets at Souza's Liquor and Deli. "…Lotto slips were flying out of ticket machines throughout the state.
