$650 Million West Warwick Casino Plans Unveiled

WEST WARWICK , Rhode Island – As reported by the Chariho Times: "If you ask town council president Jeanne-Marie DiMasi, the stakes on the proposed casino are as high as they're going to get.

"To lose it all on this hand will be a waste of years that could've been spent trying to bring other economic development to town's industrial park, she said.

"…The newest rendition of the proposed Narragansett Indian and Harrah's Entertainment casino made its debut at a press conference last Wednesday.

"Sitting alongside DiMasi and Narragansett Indian Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas, Harrah's officials unveiled the new plan: a 115,000-square-foot gaming facility that Harrah's estimates could make West Warwick $45 million in its first three years of operation.

"…The design is scaled back from the model that was shown to the public last year. While some had referred to the earlier blueprints as excessive, this year's proposal has a shorter, wider facility that utilizes more glass, stone and water elements. Jones said the company wanted the facility to be part of the environment…"
