$29.8 Million New Jersey Lottery Jackpot Unclaimed23 October 2001NEW JERSEY –Oct. 23, 2001 –As reported by the Jersey Journal: "No one has come forward yet to claim a $29.8 million Big Game cash jackpot from a ticket sold at a Bayonne deli last Tuesday. "Tom Rosenberg, a New Jersey State Lottery spokesman, said yesterday that `nothing has arrived in the mail and no one has walked through the door' to indicate who won the big prize. "`Some people seek out a financial adviser. Maybe they do not even know (they won). I hope that's not the case,' he said. "…Rosenberg suggested the winner sign the back of the ticket and then contact lottery officials, based in Lawrenceville, just outside Trenton, to let them know they have the lucky ticket. "Most people prefer to make the trip to the Trenton area in person, especially if they have a big prize to claim, he said. "…The winner has a year from the drawing date to claim the prize, said Annette Jenkins, a lottery spokeswoman. Since the names of ticket buyers are not recorded, lottery officials cannot name a winner unless a winning ticket is presented…" |
