$2 Million Extravaganza 2000 Winner Announced Actor Jimmie "JJ" Walker Presents "Hero In Education" Award

SACRAMENTO, California -- (Press Release) -- Sept. 23, 2000 -- California Lottery's ``Big SpinĀ® 2000' show airs Saturday, September 23, 2000, in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $2,197,000.

The California Lottery will announce the newest ``Extravaganza 2000' winner on this week's show. The winner will receive $2,000 per week for the next 20 years, which totals over $2 million.

Modesto resident Carman King was presented California Lottery's ``Hero in Education' award. King has been volunteering to help students for many years. She is the charter president of the Parent Teachers Students Association (PTSA), a community service group she formed through Beyer High School, that gives children the opportunity to volunteer encouraging them to get involved in their community. A few of the events King has coordinated for the children have been Safe-n-Sane Holloween, Stanislaus Count Red Ribbon Week, Underprivileged Children's Christmas Tour, Earth Day, and two television programs against drug and alcohol use, to name a few. Actor/comedian, Jimmie ``JJ' Walker, presented King with the award.
