$150 Million Black Hawk Casino Opens21 December 2001COLORADO –– As reported by the Rocky Mountain News: "The $150 million Black Hawk Casino by Hyatt opened Thursday as the largest casino in the 10-year history of Colorado gaming. "The complex, developed by Windsor Woodmont Resort Corp., features 1,332 slot and video machines, 16 blackjack tables and six poker tables. "…The development should further cement Black Hawk as the state's dominant gaming town and be another big draw for tourist dollars. "Black Hawk Casino displaced the 3-year-old Isle of Capri Casino in Black Hawk as the state's biggest casino. "…A ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon Thursday preceded the opening of the 55,000-square-foot building. "…The casino is anchored by a live entertainment venue called the Wild Fire Lounge, encircled by four 70-foot fireplaces. "…Two eateries are open, and a Wolfgang Puck restaurant is slated to open early next year. "Last month, Black Hawk's 20 casinos posted $38.4 million in revenue, Cripple Creek's 18 casinos logged $10.4 million and Central City's five casinos reported $4.3 million…" |
