$1 LOTTO Ticket Cheaper Than a Gallon of Gas for $40 Million FLORIDA LOTTO

13 July 2000

TALLAHASSEE, Florida--(Press Release)--July 13, 2000-- After six rollovers, the FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot has rolled over to an estimated $40 million. The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing is this Saturday, July 15, 2000, at 11 p.m. EDT. This is an increase of $10 million, up from Wednesday's $30 mil.

If a sole winner chooses the Cash Option payment for the estimated $40 million jackpot, it would amount to approximately $19 million(a). If a sole winner chooses to take the jackpot over 30 years, it would amount to approximately $1.33 million per year (amount based on current daily interest rates.).

Ticket sales for Wednesday's drawing peaked at 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday, when FLORIDA LOTTO tickets were selling at an average rate of 12,000 tickets per minute statewide. This compares with a peak of 10,000 per minute for last Saturday's jackpot, estimated at $17 million.

Lines at some of the 8,500 On-line Lottery retailers could occur Saturday evening when ticket sales are expected to peak at approximately 20,000 per minute. Typical Saturday sales peak about 10,000 per minute for a $5 million jackpot.

By the time the drawing is over, players will have contributed more than $17 million to public education from this series of rollovers, which began on June 24 with an estimated $5 million jackpot.

If the FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot rolls after Saturday's drawing, the jackpot for this Saturday's drawing will be estimated at $50 million.
