$1.8 Million Winner At the Sands

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- A Forestville, Maryland woman, after only 20 minutes of play, pulled a handle and won over $1.8 million in a QuarterMania jackpot at the Sands Hotel & Casino.

Frances Hawkins had approximately 20 minutes of play in a QuarterMania on July 8 when she hit the giant jackpot for $1,881,522.90.

That total is payable in equal installments over the next 20 years. She immediately received the first installment, a pre-tax check totaling $94,076.29.

Hawkins, age 56, traveled to Atlantic City by a Gold Line bus, which she picked up at a nearby shopping center. "I wanted to come to Atlantic City more than three or four times a year, but I couldn't afford it."
