Car hangs from Harrah's Vegas parking garage; driver safe

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Some people get lucky in Las Vegas Strip resort casinos, but one woman escaped with her life after the car she was driving broke through a fifth-floor garage barricade Monday morning, Metro Police said.

About 11:30 a.m. Monday the woman went to apply the brakes, but instead hit the accelerator, which propelled her vehicle through a concrete barricade on the fifth floor of the Harrah's parking garage on the Las Vegas Strip, Metro Police Officer Jay Rivera said.

The woman was able to escape while the two front wheels of the vehicle teetered on the edge of the concrete garage floor, he said.

"It was just like out of the movies," Rivera said.

A tow truck safely saved the car from plunging off the garage, Rivera said, and the woman was not cited for any traffic infraction. Police did not identify the driver.
