Wynn Resorts releases COVID numbers for Wynn Las Vegas

17 September 2020

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Wynn Resorts has updated the results of its testing and contact tracing program for Wynn Las Vegas. The Company made a commitment to public transparency of its efforts to keep guests and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, beginning with the disclosure of its Health and Safety Program on 19 April, and the subsequent release of its testing numbers during its Q2 earnings call on 4 August.

To-date, the company, in partnership with University Medical Center (UMC), has conducted 15,051 tests of its employees, well in excess of its current employee base. Each employee is required to pass a COVID-19 test before they return to work or upon hiring.

The Company's extensive Surveillance Testing Program tests groups of up to 700 employees every two weeks using an algorithm to ensure a random sample. The program catches any employees who are positive for the virus but are asymptomatic.

Of the 15,051 tests conducted there have been 548 positive cases, for a positivity test rate of 3.6%, well below the U.S. national average. Of those, 51 positive results were pre-reopening, 497 were post-reopening, for a 3.3% positivity rate post-opening.

The Company has continued to see a significant downward trend in virus positivity rates since it began its multi-faceted Pre-employment and Surveillance Testing Programs. In fact, in the recent round of Surveillance Testing conducted on September 11, only one out of 285 employees tested positive.

The Company has 10 employees dedicated full-time to contact tracing for positive employee cases. The team interviews every infected employee and works with security to review all available surveillance coverage. The Company's contact tracing results reveal that 98% of the employees testing positive contracted the virus outside of work.

Wynn Las Vegas has hosted more than 500,000 guests since re-opening in early June. Guests who self-identify with potential exposure or display symptoms are offered in-room testing and six guests have tested positive.

Matt Maddox, CEO of Wynn Resorts said, "Our goal, by implementing our Surveillance Testing Program and establishing a robust in-house contact tracing effort, is to make Wynn Las Vegas the safest place our guests and employees can go outside of their own homes."
