Gaming NewsWisconsin Voters Approve Casino Referendum4 November 2004KENOSHA, Wisconsin – As reported by the Associated Press: "Kenosha County voters have approved an advisory referendum to allow construction of an Indian casino on the site of the Dairyland Greyhound Park. "Unofficial results of the balloting Tuesday showed 38,821, or about 56 percent, in favor, and 30,436, or about 44.0 percent, against. "…The Menominee Nation submitted an application earlier this year to hold the 223-acre Dairyland property in tribal trust. After a review process that can take months or years, the U.S Bureau of Indian Affairs will make a recommendation to Gov. Jim Doyle, who has the ultimate say. "…The $808 million development would include a hotel, restaurant, spa and conference center. The tribe would also operate the dog racing track." |
