WinStar World to host World Long Drive Championship9 February 2017
(PRESS RELEASE) -- WinStar World Casino and Resort officials are pleased to announce the return of the World Long Drive Championship for the third consecutive year to Thackerville, 31 August through 6 September.
WinStar officials signed a multi-year extension with the World Long Drive Association to be the host site for the World Championship.
"At WinStar, we strive to provide memorable and unique experiences for our loyal patrons," said Wayne McCormick, WinStar's general manager. "The opportunity to continue a working relationship with the World Long Drive Association and the Golf Channel presented itself and based on the success of World Championship events that have been held at WinStar in the past, we felt this was a beneficial partnership for all parties. We look forward to once again hosting the athletes and providing a one-of-a-kind experience for fans."
WinStar was also named one of eight World Long Drive Championship sanctioned, qualifying locations. Four competitors from each event will advance to the World Championship, which will feature a 96-person field competing for a $270,000 purse. The WinStar qualifying event will be held 18 and 19 May.
The Golf Channel will air back-to-back nights of live World Long Drive Championship coverage on 5 September and 6 September. For the first time ever, the Women's Division will be showcased live during two of the qualifying events and the World Long Drive Championship.

WinStar Classic (Thackerville, Oklah.)
Bluff City Shootout (Memphis, Tenn.)
Rockwell Blast (West Bountiful, Utah)
Mile High Shootout (Denver, Colo.)
Catawba Classic (Hickory, N.C.)
