WinStar World employees surpass blood donation goal

9 November 2017

(PRESS RELEASE) -- WinStar World Casino and Resort employees rolled up their sleeves to donate blood at the annual blood drive held at WinStar on Tuesday, 24 October. Oklahoma Blood Institute officials noted that WinStar averages one of the state's largest blood drives. They were happy to report this was the largest blood drive ever held at WinStar with 296 donors, beating last year's record of 275 donations.

Wayne McCormick, WinStar's general manager, said the WinStar team set a goal of reaching 1,000 blood donations throughout 2017. He was thrilled to hear that they not only met but also exceeded that goal, with 1,025 total donations.

"Our team looks forward to participating in the OBI blood drives throughout the year at WinStar," said McCormick. "We have a great sense of community, and our employees love to lend a helping hand whenever they can; that dedication was especially visible this year as our team worked together to impact the lives of fellow Oklahomans in need through the OBI blood drives."

Dr. John Armitage, OBI President and CEO, said that they are proud and grateful for the successful partnership with WinStar.

"Our community can truly rely on WinStar's unwavering commitment to saving lives," said Dr. Armitage. "Because of donors at WinStar's blood drives, hundreds of patients across Oklahoma can receive health, hope, healing and comfort."
