Vancouver Slot Hearing Draws Crowd

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – As reported by the CBC: "Vancouver city council held a public hearing Thursday night into whether 600 slot machines should be approved for the Hastings Racecourse.

"Nearly 200 speakers showed up to voice their opinions on the controversial proposal.

"Supporters of slots at the track held a rally outside city hall before the hearing started.

"…With more than 94 scheduled speakers city staff had to bring in dozens of extra chairs to accommodate the overflow.

"…The public hearing process isn't over. Because of the high number of speakers, many didn't get a chance address council…"
