Gaming NewsUnion to resume bargaining with Atlantic City casinos2 October 2009ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by The Press of Atlantic City: "Bargaining may resume the week of Oct. 12 between the resort's largest casino union and the remaining gaming halls where contracts have not been signed, union officials said today. "Local 54 of UNITE-HERE, which represents 15,000 service and hotel workers across the resort, is still negotiating with Tropicana Casino and Resort and Trump Entertainment Resort Inc., which owns the Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza and Trump Marina casinos. "On Monday, Local 54 members employed by four of the city's 11 casinos - Bally's Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah's Atlantic City and Showboat Hotel Casino - voted to ratify a two-year contract. The contract keeps workers' health and pension benefits in tact and allows for hourly wage increases of 35 cents to $1 for most employees. "Local 54 President Bob McDevitt has said he wants to see a similar contract with the remaining casinos..." copyrighted material written for and appeared exclusively in The Press of Atlantic City |
