Tyler Robinson Foundation announces community honorees for fifth annual Rise Up Gala

16 May 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF), the nonprofit organization of the Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum-selling band Imagine Dragons, has announced its honorees for the fifth annual Rise Up Gala, an extraordinary, one-night-only experience dedicated to supporting families with pediatric cancer diagnoses.

Community heroes will be recognized for their efforts in the fight against pediatric cancer at the exclusive event planned for Friday, 14 September at Caesars Palace. Honorees include:

TRF Community Impact: Vegas Golden Knights
The TRF Community Impact Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have created a positive, meaningful environment in a TRF partner community. No organization has had a more profound influence on the Las Vegas community this year than the Vegas Golden Knights. From team member’s visits to the victims and families of the tragic events of October 1, to their support of children during Hockey Fights Cancer month, and hosting TRF families at home games, the Vegas Golden Knights have set the standard for positive community engagement. By giving back to others and delivering positive messages of hope to those most in need, the Knights have shown Las Vegas is so much more than the bright lights of The Strip. The Vegas Golden Knights are this year’s TRF Community Impact honorees.

TRF Corporate Partner: Live Nation
Live Nation is a long-time partner of Imagine Dragons and the Tyler Robinson Foundation. From TRF’s inception, Live Nation has made the organization’s cause their cause. Not only has Live Nation made incredible donations to TRF time and time again, the corporation has worked to creatively find ways to raise money to support the TRF mission whenever the band is on the road. Live Nation is a big company with a big heart and is consistently setting the standard for paying it back by paying it forward. TRF is thankful for the ongoing support of Live Nation and the assistance the company has provided to make TRF what it is today. Live Nation is 2018’s TRF Corporate Partner honoree.

TRF Youth Ambassador: Tris Weeks
This year’s TRF Youth Ambassador honoree has turned her love of music into nearly $30,000 for the organization. Florida-based 17-year old singer/songwriter Tris Weeks has performed at open mics, gallery nights and organized benefit concerts to raise money for pediatric cancer charities. Weeks’ efforts best demonstrate the power of the TRF Youth Ambassador program, which inspires young people to use their talents and creativity to raise money for TRF and families affected by pediatric cancer. TRF is thrilled to honor Tris Weeks as our 2018 Youth Ambassador.

TRF Legacy Honoree: Jeff Schwartz
The TRF Legacy award recognizes individuals who have been an integral part of the Foundation since its inception. When TRF was just a seed of an idea with the band and the Robinson family, Jeff Schwartz stepped up to make that vision a reality, and TRF would not be where it is today without his dedication. He worked tirelessly to navigate the process of starting a nonprofit, coordinating the acceptance of donations, and helping to direct funds to those most in need. Schwartz, who fought cancer for many years, is now living cancer free and continues to mentor others as they continue their fight. Jeff Schwartz is an inspiration to all who desire to give back to others through good deeds, exemplifying the TRF Legacy Honoree award.

Rise Up Gala 2018
The Rise Up Gala offers attendees an exhilarating night of entertainment and glamour while celebrating the individuals who have made notable contributions to TRF through direct efforts, philanthropic support, or by raising public awareness for pediatric cancer. Joel McHale will once again serve as master of ceremonies. The evening also features a special acoustic performance from the GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum-selling band, Imagine Dragons.

The 2018 event is nearly sold out, though a few individual tickets and corporate sponsorships are still available. The evening includes cocktails, dinner, a live and silent auction and all-star entertainment. All proceeds benefit the Tyler Robinson Foundation. For more information or for ticket purchase, visit online.

TRF has raised more than $4.5 million to support families battling childhood cancer by providing grants to offset the many unseen costs associated with treatment. More than 400 families have benefited from TRF support. The Foundation continues to grow its efforts for families through a number of awareness and fundraising initiatives.
