"Top Chef" contestant heading to Wisconsin casino

30 September 2009

LAC DU FLAMBEAU, Wisconsin -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Chef Fabio Viviani's charming personality, good looks and thick Italian accent made him a popular contestant on season 5 of Bravo's "Top Chef: New York" culinary competition series. Now Wisconsin foodies, residents, cooking professionals and fans will have the opportunity to experience the culinary delights of the "Top Chef" finalist and fan favorite as Chef Viviani creates an unbelievably delicious tasting menu for audience members on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Tickets are $45 for VIP table seats with tasting menu included, and $25 for general seating. There will be two shows at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the casino's convention center. As an added bonus, the VIP table seat tickets will include a three course tasting menu and a glass of wine especially pared for the menu by Chef Viviani for guests to enjoy. You must be 21 to attend the shows.

Born and raised in Florence, Italy, Fabio Viviani was the stand-out chef on this past season's "Top Chef: New York", which was just nominated for five 2009 Emmy Awards.

Viviani is the owner and executive chef of a new Italian restaurant, Firenze Osteria, a stone's throw from Universal Studios in Los Angeles, Calif. He is trained in classic Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and incorporates French, Spanish and Italian influences in his dishes. He also works as William Shatner's personal chef. Outside the kitchen, Fabio enjoys soccer, fishing, and organic gardening.

"This is a show you won't want to miss if you're a fan of "Top Chef" or just interested in fine cooking and Italian cuisine. Fabio Viviani is recognized as one of the most promising chefs in the country and here's a very unique opportunity to see his culinary magic live," said Michael J. Broderick, Lake of the Torches' Director of Marketing.

"Not only will guests be able to see Chef Viviani prepare three unique dishes from start to finish on stage, they will also be able to try those very same three courses during the show with the special "tasting menu" VIP table seat tickets. Chef Viviani has even pared the menu with a wine selection that is included in the price of the VIP tickets! This is truly a first for Northern Wisconsin and I personally can't wait to try his food!" remarked Broderick.

Situated on the shores of Pokegama Lake and nestled in Wisconsin's Northwoods, the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino has a feel of a classic Northern retreat and reflects its

Ojibwe culture and heritage. The casino has over 800 slot machines (including a non-smoking area), 10 blackjack tables and three poker tables (along with 3-card poker and Let It Ride poker tables), a high-stakes Bingo Hall seating up to 500 persons, the 24-hour Game Time Grill and the Eagle's Nest Restaurant. The hotel has 100 well–appointed rooms, the Dancing Waters Lounge and the Woodland Oasis pool area. The 8,500 square-foot Convention Center with the Hall of Nations offers an outstanding venue for entertainment, receptions, trade shows, meetings, presentations and seminars.
