Third Round of Casino Funding Available

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Daily Democrat: "Yolo County officials announced the opening of the application period for the third round of funding for the mitigation of direct effects related to expansion of the Cache Creek Casino Resort, located in Brooks on Highway 16 in the Capay Valley.

"The casino mitigation funds are available under the provisions of the county's 2002 landmark agreement with the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians.

"'We are now inviting applications for the third funding cycle,' said Helen Thomson, chairwoman of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. 'This funding was set aside specifically to address the impacts of Casino expansion. This third application period will give those who may have missed this past year's funding a chance to enter into the process.'

"…Fund requests will be reviewed and prioritized by the Advisory Committee on Tribal Matters. Applications must be postmarked by Saturday, April 30. Requests will then be evaluated and recommendations made by the Committee. Community groups, individuals, small businesses and non-County governmental agencies may apply…"
