Thief Charged with Casino Robbery

EDMONTON, Alberta – As reported by the Edmonton Journal: "A man serving 32 years in a Montreal prison has been charged with taking part in the 1999 robbery of an armoured truck guard outside the Palace Casino at West Edmonton Mall.

"Claude Arthur Matte, 43, will likely face the new charges in Quebec, said Edmonton police spokesperson Annette Bidniak.

"The brazen robbery took place on the morning of May 5, 1999, after a Loomis courier guard picked up more than $100,000 in cash from the casino.
