Gaming NewsThe Reel Life28 January 2010The Reel Life enjoys traveling when we're not playing the online slots. One of the places we've always wanted to visit if we ever hit a major jackpot is New Zealand. A German man who recently visited New Zealand will spend a little more time in the country than he had planned. According to UKPA, 58-year-old Hans Kurt Kubus was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison and must pay a 5,000 New Zealand dollar fine after trying to smuggle 44 small lizards out of the country. The 44 geckos and skinks are on the New Zealand endangered species list. Kubus was caught by wildlife officials at Christchurch International Airport in December about to board an overseas flight with the lizards in a hands-sewn package concealed in his underwear. Department of Conservation prosecutor Mike Bodie said the department sought a deterrent sentence for "the most serious case of its kind detected in New Zealand for a decade or more." The geckos could have been worth over 2,000 euros each on the black market, according to Bodie. Over $2,000 for a gecko sounds like a pretty crazy deal. Is it worth 14 weeks in a New Zealand prison? That's up for debate. Hopefully by the time The Reel Life makes it Down Under, we won't have to smuggle lizards to pay for our trip. Get in the fast lane grandma, the Bingo game is ready to roll! A good start to the year Things are looking up for Ann S after she scored two jackpots in three weeks in the Great Value Emerald Room at Jackpotjoy. "I have been playing bingo since I was 18, and I am now 63, and in all that time the most I have won in an individual win was 666.00 about 13 years ago." But Ann stuck with it and now she's scored £3,040 in the two jackpots. "It has been a really bad year and the two wins have really cheered me and my husband up." Well done Ann!
