The Reel Life

29 May 2008

The Reel Life is all about saluting winners in all walks of life, especially when others refuse to do so. So this week, we're giving the old tip of the cap to those zany characters at Bodog who keep the slots ringing and a Dallas teen whose school won't do the right thing.

Feeding the Bodog

It's been so long since the Reel Life caught up with our winners from Bodog that we barely recognized the redesigned Bodog Beat. But once we figured out where to look, it is quite clear that even though look of the site had changed, players were still winning left and right.

This month, Cherylann F won $20,043 from the Hillibillies slot game. Renee W hit the Crystal Waters slot for $14,655. Todd J is crazy for Funky Monkey after winning $23,151 in two days. Sheryl R mined $11,509 from the Super Diamond Mine slot. Todd J hit the Lion's Lair for $9,428. Sharon N won $9,339 from the Goldbeard slot. And Joseph Y took home $8,932.

Dallas teen "too smart" to earn scholarship

Near Dallas, Texas, Grapevine High School senior Anjali Datta will be finishing her academic career with grade point average (GPA) of 5.898, possibly the highest in the school's history. Her nearest competitor has a GPA of 5.64. But Datta won't be winning the school's "valedictory" scholarship because she finished her high-school education in three years, instead of the usual four. According to the Dallas Morning News, this apparently violates school rules regarding the scholarship. So the college money and title of valedictorian are going to another student. And Datta is receiving a newly created designation, "Valedictorian -- Three-Year," and no scholarship. This strikes so the Reel Life as wholly unfair. So we thought we'd give her some recognition in this space.

Anjali Datta -- The Reel Life salutes you. You are as much a winner as anyone ever listed in this space.
