The Mavericks to perform at SugarHouse Casino

29 March 2017

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Grammy-award winning artists The Mavericks will take The Event Center stage at SugarHouse Casino on Saturday, 10 June, at 9 p.m., performing some of their greatest hits and songs from their upcoming LP, "Brand New Day." The Mavericks' sound is a neo-traditional take on country music, combining Latin rhythms and rock roots. Tickets for the performance go on sale Friday, 31 March, and cost $49—$59.

The Mavericks — consisting of singer, song writer and guitarist Paul Malo, Paul Deakin (drums), Eddie Perez (guitar) and Jerry Dale McFadden (keyboard) — combine to create an eclectic sound. "Brand New Day" showcases the band's hybrid tones incorporating Motown notes, horn accents and bossa nova beats.

"With the upcoming release of The Mavericks' new album, SugarHouse Casino will be one of the first venues where fans will hear the songs live," said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of the casino. "The concert will be a mix of new music and favorite hits, with a performance sure to rock the stage."

Founded in 1989, The Mavericks are known for their showmanship and exciting performances, earning recognition as some of the best entertainers in the business. In addition to winning a Grammy for their song "Here Comes the Rain," the band has achieved 14 singles on the Billboard country charts and has won a total of five awards from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.

The Mavericks will release their ninth studio album, "Brand New Day," on Friday, 31 March, the same day tickets for their SugarHouse show go on sale. It will be the band's first release on its own label, Mono Mundo Recordings.

Tickets for The Mavericks' show, and for all SugarHouse performances, including comedic ventriloquist Paul Zerdin (29 April) and improvisational comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood (13 May), can be purchased online at the SugarHouse Casino Event Center page. Zerdin is best known for winning season 10 of America’s Got Talent, while Mochrie and Sherwood are recognized for their long careers on Whose Line Is It Anyway?

In addition to live performances and concerts, the SugarHouse Casino Event Center can be reserved for a variety of other events, including weddings, corporate receptions, seminars, trade shows and more. The space features floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views of the Delaware River waterfront and the Ben Franklin Bridge. Parking is always free.
