Texas: Expanded gambling prospects look grim

AUSTIN, Texas -- November's election result may mean optimistic gambling advocates in Texas are out of luck, The Dallas Morning News reported.

The state has a budget crisis, which advocates feel slots at racetracks would solve, the report said.

However when The Dallas Morning News polled lawmakers it discovered a lack of votes in favour of expanded gambling.

Any expansion to gambling requires two thirds support in the Senate and House, and voters would need to approve it, the Dallas Morning News report said.
