Gaming NewsTalks held to save Blackpool casino plans20 February 2007BLACKPOOL, England – As reported by the Blackpool Gazette: "Crucial talks with Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell are set to be held today in a bid to save Blackpool's casino dream. "Fylde coast MPs Gordon Marsden, Joan Humble and Ben Wallace will have a 45-minute meeting with Mrs Jowell at her Westminster offices in the hope of persuading her not to accept a recommendation that the UK's first regional casino licence be awarded to Manchester. "One of the key issues will be to urge the minister to allow MPs two separate votes when the recommendations come to Parliament, expected to be later this month. "It is hoped the vote on the regional casino licence will be separate to the vote to confirm the locations of the 16 other smaller casinos. "And Mr Marsden said he was confident Mrs Jowell would listen to what they had to say…" |
