Table Mountain Casino Donates $25,000 to Cancer Foundation

12 November 2004

FRESNO, California – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Table Mountain Casino supports the fight against breast cancer with a $25,000 contribution to the Susan G. Komen Central Valley Affiliate. As an Affiliate Sponsor, Table Mountain Casino's donation helps support all of the Affiliate's events, including the Komen Fresno Race for the Cure(R), Survivors Celebration Luncheon, and more!

"Table Mountain Casino's generous contribution was instrumental in making our race a huge success," said Julie Weigand, Volunteer Race Chair. "We had 4,532 participants and will raise over $200,000 this year compared with 2,700 participants and $104,000 in 2003."

The 6th Annual Susan G. Komen Fresno Race for the Cure(R) took place Saturday, October 23 at California State University, Fresno. This international event supports the foundation's fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded on a promise made between two sisters -- Susan Goodman Komen and Nancy Goodman Brinker. Suzy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1978, a time when little was known about the disease and it was rarely discussed in public. Before she died at the age of 36, Suzy asked her sister to do everything possible to bring an end to breast cancer. Nancy kept her promise by establishing the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 1982 in Suzy's memory.

Table Mountain Casino is proud to support local charities that serve the people of Fresno as well as the entire San Joaquin Valley community including Central California Blood Center, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Big Brother and Big Sisters, and many more. Table Mountain Casino is owned and operated by the Chukchansi-Mono Band of Indians. To learn more about Table Mountain Casino and the current promotions, visit
