Surprise supporter for Blackpool's supercasino bid

BLACKPOOL, England – As reported by the Blackpool Gazette: "Blackpool's supercasino bid has received backing from the most unexpected source – Manchester.

"The city, controversially named as the preferred option for the UK's first gambling mecca, says it will continue to lobby Parliament to grant more licences.

"Its senior councillors offered an olive branch to towns and cities which lost out. They voted to maintain the city's stance on lobbying Parliament to increase the number of regional casinos.

"Council leader Sir Richard Leese said: 'This regional casino will be an international destination bringing more visitors to the North West as well as providing a whole range of much-needed jobs to one of the most deprived communities.'…"
