Study will analyze New Hampshire gambling

CONCORD, New Hampshire –- As reported by the New Hampshire Union Leader: "Gov. John Lynch yesterday fulfilled a promise he made in the closing days of the legislative session by creating a Gaming Study Commission to give an objective analysis of the pros and cons of expanding gambling in New Hampshire.

"Lynch named retired Rye businessman Andrew Lietz to chair the 15-member panel, which Lynch wants to have its first meeting as soon as possible after Aug. 15, provide a work outline and schedule by Oct. 1 and an interim report by Dec. 1.

"Lietz is the former president and chief executive of the Hadco Corp. and has chaired the board of the state university system and the state Business and Industry Association. He also served on former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen's blue-ribbon commission on taxes in 2000.

"Lietz said yesterday that despite strong views on both sides of the gambling issue, 'I really have no position one way or the other. I'm agnostic on gambling...'"
