Standoff at AC casino ends peacefully

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by The Press of Atlantic City: "An armed man barricaded inside an office of the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort overnight was taken into custody at this morning.

"The incident began at 8:48 p.m. Thursday when Trump Taj Mahal security officers notified Atlantic City police that a man had locked himself in a security room and was armed with a handgun. William Serrano, 53, was being sought for questioning in a Suffolk, N.Y., embezzlement case.

"An emergency response team negotiated with the man for 12 hours before he surrendered at 7:49 a.m., according to Atlantic City police. Serrano accidentally fired his gun at one point during the night. Nobody was injured.

"Serrano, of Corum, N.Y., will be charged in Atlantic City with aggravated assault and weapons offenses..."
