South Africa casino construction contract awarded

SOUTH AFRICA – As reported by the South Africa Engineering News: "A R733-million contract for the construction of a new casino resort near Krugersdorp (Mogale City) has been awarded to Grinaker-LTA Building, part of the JSE-listed Aveng group.

"The Silverstar casino resort will comprise three gaming venues – the main casino, a smokers' casino and a VIP casino.

"It will also include banqueting and conference facilities, five restaurants, a fast-food court, bars, entertainment facilities and a children's games arcade.

"In addition, the development will offer a four- to five- star hotel with health spa and pool – all over-looking extensive water features.

"Grinaker-LTA Building MD Neil Cloete says this is an exceptionally fast-track project, with completion of the 54 000-m2 development scheduled for November.

"…The Silverstar casino resort and the upgrade of Gold Reef City are being developed by Gold Reef Resorts and empower-ment partner Akani Leisure Investments."
