Gaming NewsSenecas Break Ground on Salamanca Casino12 November 2003SALAMANCA – As reported by the Salamanca Press: ``A jackpot of sunshine beamed down as the Seneca Nation of Indians broke ground for a casino off Mill Street in the city's west end. ``… Seneca President Rickey L. Armstrong…called the casino 'another step for us to become self-sufficient which is our goal.' ``…The casino will create 800 jobs in Cattaraugus County where unemployment rates are typically some of the highest in the state, Armstrong said. ``The casino will cover 124,000 square feet, have 42,200 feet of gaiming space with 8,800 square feet for non-smoking customers and 11,000 square feet for bingo, according to a fact sheet provided by the Seneca Nation. ``About 1,500 slot machines and 30 table games will be located in the facility which will be smaller than the Seneca Nigara Casino in Niagara Falls which opened Dec. 31. ``The Salamanca casino, which is on the Allegany Terrority, is expected to open in April…" |
